Harrow LiDe School Chongging (AISL Harrow Chongging) is located in the Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing, providing world class K-12 internationally oriented bilingual education to students on an outstanding campus designed for both day students and boarders.

We proudly look to the 450-year old Harrow School in the UK for guiding principles, placing our long-held Values at the very heart of our education echos.  We enjoy an area of 135,000 sqm. It embraces the natural contours and vistas of the site to integrate nature into the daily experience of the students and staff.

We are an exceptionally open community, believing that relationships are the core of everything in life, and so we develop strong connections to our families through communications and events that draw parents, grandparents and wider families into our school.

Chongqing is a major megacity in southwest China and one of the country’s four direct-control municipalities. It’s famously built on mountains where the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers meet, earning it the name ‘Mountain City.’

Chongqing is a city of immense character, energy, and opportunity, and we are confident you will find your time here both rewarding and enriching.

The culinary scene in Chongqing is nothing short of legendary and is a highlight for many residents. The city is the undisputed birthplace of Chongqing Hotpot, a social and culinary experience characterized by a rich, fiery broth flavored with chili and Sichuan peppercorns. Beyond hotpot, the local cuisine is known for its bold and pungent flavors. Be sure to try local specialties such as Xiaomian (a simple yet delicious bowl of noodles often eaten for breakfast) and a variety of Jianghu Cai (“Riverside” dishes known for their robust style). For those with a milder palate, most restaurants are happy to adjust the spice level, and a growing number of international supermarkets and restaurants cater to diverse tastes, particularly in areas like Jiangbei and Yubei.

Chongqing offers a wide range of housing options, from modern high-rise apartments to more traditional complexes. Many teachers find homes in districts such as Jiangbei, which is close to many central business districts; Yubei, known for its modern conveniences and expat-friendly amenities and where you will find the school; and Nan’an, which offers spectacular river views. Most apartments available for lease are fully furnished and equipped with modern appliances.

Navigating Chongqing is an adventure, thanks to its innovative infrastructure designed to conquer the challenging terrain. The Chongqing Metro system is extensive, efficient, and highly recommended. It includes unique sights like the Monorail Line 2, which passes directly through a residential building, and provides stunning views of the rivers and cityscapes. Buses cover an extensive network, and taxis and ride-hailing services like Didi (similar to Uber) are readily available and affordable.

Online shopping is an integral part of daily life in Chongqing, offering unparalleled convenience and accessibility. Major platforms like Taobao and JD.com dominate the market, providing everything from groceries and electronics to clothing and household items. These platforms often feature same-day or next-day delivery, making them ideal for urgent needs.

Payment is typically handled through integrated systems like Alipay or WeChat Pay, which are secure and widely accepted. While most platforms operate primarily in Chinese, translation tools or browser extensions can help navigate the sites. Additionally, many expat communities share guides and recommendations for reliable sellers and products. For those who prefer English-language services, Happy Fresh (for grocery delivery) and Amazon China are alternatives, though their product range may be more limited. Regardless of your preference, online shopping in Chongqing is efficient, diverse, and tailored to meet virtually any need.

Chongqing’s greatest asset is its vibrant and welcoming spirit. We encourage you to explore its many facets—visit the Hongya Cave stilted complex, explore the ancient streets of Ciqikou, or spend an afternoon at the Three Gorges Museum.
